Details required for an EV SSL certificate
Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates are issued only after verification that the applicant is a genuine legal entity, which comes from a business reputation firm such as Dun and Bradstreet. These would be most useful when business validation and customer confidence is crucial to your business operations.
Note: Until recently EV SSLs also displayed the company name in green in the address bar. As of Chrome 77, Chrome has moved this this UI to Page Info, which is accessed by clicking the lock icon in the URL bar.
An EV SSL certificate requires considerably more verification checking than a standard SSL certificate, in order to have an EV SSL certificate activated you will be required to pass the following three checks:
1. Domain Verification - Clicking a confirmation link in an email sent to one of the following approved addresses for your domain:
2. Organisation Verification - Your business' contact details & legal business name verified by a 3rd party such as Dun and Bradstreet, a business reputation firm.
3. Verification phone call - a phone call to the phone number listed in the 3rd party's records confirming details of the certificate.
Before beginning the initialisation process of an EV SSL certificate we recommend that you have the following details collated:
Company Information - This info will be used directly in your CSR.
Company/Legal Name: **This is what will appear in the Page Info area**:
D-U-N-S® Number (if unsure see note below):
Company Email Address:
Admin Contact - This will be the primary contact and will be the first contact for assistance or any questions related to this order.
Tech Contact - This is generally the person in charge of your website/web server. They will also receive renewal reminder emails.
You can find your DUNS number with your ABN from this site.
To make sure your DUNS profile is up to date please contact Dun and Bradstreet with the following details:
Phone - (02) 8270 2800
Email: CSC.Australia@dnb.com.au; email@example.com
The process of initialising an EV SSL certificate is just like that of a regular SSL certificate, which you can view in this guide.
If you have any trouble with the activation process of an EV SSL certificate please send through a ticket to our support team.
